Israel vexed at UK embassy reopening in Iran: MP

TEHRAN, Aug. 23 (MNA) – An Iranian MP says Israel is displeased with Iran’s expansion of ties with other countries including Britain, insofar as the regime had pressured British officials against reopening embassy in Tehran.

Deputy Head of Iran-Britain Parliamentary Friendship Group Hamed Ghader-Marzi in a radio interview on Monday said Britain as an industrial country has good experiences in the field of industry and Iran with its growing economy can benefit from these experiences by engaging in economic transactions with the European country.

While noting that Iran would respond accordingly in case the British embassy in Tehran made a move against the interests of the Islamic Republic, Ghader-Marzi added, “our relations with Britain have always been based on peace while the European country has leveled hostile treatment against us.”

The Iranian MP highlighted the significance of improving international interactions for Iran, adding “if we place ourselves in the margins and limit our relations with the world, that would be to the benefit of the Zionist regime; the regime is displeased with the notion that Iran is expanding its relations with various countries in the world including Britain, so far as it had even pressured British officials into deciding against the reopening of their embassy in Tehran."

Dignitaries from both the Islamic Republic of Iran and Britain marked the full re-opening of the Iranian embassy in London on Sunday after a four-year closure. The two countries have stressed the need for a ‘new chapter’ going forward in an atmosphere of mutual respect.
